Turtle (and other stuff) Cupcakes

Hello Everyone,

Like this post?  Well you should also "LIKE" me on Facebook!

So I once made a turtle themed cake.  Then I made another turtle themed cake.

I was asked to make another sea turtle themed cake but suggested to the client that I should make cupcakes.  They agreed and here is a preview.

Check out my photography skills!?

Here is how I made them.

Lets start with the crab.

I love it!!!

Moving on to the sea crap (shells, grass and stuff)

Turtle.  I know that is why you are all here.  Cause the turtle is awesome and you want and NEED to see how I made it.

I also made a starfish and fish but I didn't take pictures of the process.
So here are the finished products.

How fun were these?

I love the look of a nicely frosted cupcake.

Okay that is it for now.  I have some cute Hello Kitty cupcakes coming up later.  Go see pictures at my Facebook page.

Butter Makes It Better!

Hello Everyone,

I love butter mochi, but I always thought it was too hard to make.  I mean its mochi and I have no desire to pound mochi (I can't even do it well when playing Cooking Mama).

Well guess what.  Butter mochi is super, duper easy!  So easy that I could do it.  The hardest part was finding the ingredients.

STORY TIME!!!  I live in Hawaii.  We have Asian products in all grocery stores.  For Butter Mochi you need Mochiko flour.  I thought to myself "What the hell is that?"

I get to the local grocery store and I find the Asian aisle.  Okay.

Search, search, search.

No its not rice.  What kind of bag is it in?  Is it even in a bag?  No, maybe I should give up.

After about 10 minutes of looking at every single package I found it.  YAY ME *clap hands*!!!

I go to stand in line  (I picked the slowest line in the whole entire world).  I place my newly found Mochiko flour on the conveyor  belt and the woman in front of me said "excuse me" as she left the line.  I follow her, with my eyes (like a creepy stalker) for some reason and see...right in the front of the aisle....

A giant pyramid of Mochiko flour.  WHAT?  I spent TEN MINUTES in the Asian aisle reading every single box and its right there.  That pyramid mocked me.  It laughed and pointed, and I hung my head in shame.

The end.

I am going to share this recipe (which isn't mine) because it is so easy and SO YUMMY.  So click that link above.

No more READING.  On to the pictures!

Forgot to take a picture before it baked...sorry.

Orchid Round Two

Hello Everyone,

So round one of orchid making went so well (for my first time) I decided I needed to try out a purple orchid.  Add some color and pazazz!!!

Check it out!

Not to shabby (in my humble opinion).

How did I do it?  Well you shall see...

I got that flower from our front yard.

Next time I am going to color the gum paste before.  Purple then use some luster dust to give it depth.  I wonder if that will work better.

Gum Paste Orchids Round One

Hello Everyone,

I realize that as I move forward in this cake decorating journey I need to learn how to make more sophisticated cakes.  This means gum paste flowers.  Long ago (before I even started Cup-e-Cake Gang) I bought the Wilton Gum Paste Flower decorating kit.  I have attempted to use it many times but find the instructors to be difficult to follow.  I looked up orchids on Youtube and check out what I made!!!

Not to shabby for my first attempt at an orchid right.  So here is how I made it.

That was round one.  I will have to try that again.
