I recently made some baby animal cupcakes for a baby shower. At first my plan was to make 20 gum paste animals. Then I realized that while I am pretty awesome at making these guys it took me like an hour to do each one AND I didn't plan out work well enough.
SO. My sister suggest I make some gifts and then I made some trees and then some flowers and it was a whole jungle scene.
I am no artist. As you can see from the below picture, that I drew at work, that my co-workers laughed at....
I think its cute.
But everyone who looked at it could not tell me "that's a very nice picture. you are so talented" without bursting into laughter mid-sentence.
Hurtful...
Anyway I had little faith in myself when I started these animal gum paste figurines. I did not think I could do it...but I DID!!!!
The first one I attempted to make was a giraffe:
Now on to the Lion...RWAARR
Next up is the elephant. He was my favoriate. I love, LOVE how he turned out.
So that is most of them. I also made a zebra and a unicorn (yep a UNICORN) but they didnt turn out as cute as the above animals.
I made gifts. In my head it was like the animals were going to a party and they were taking presents to give. Cute idea right. I agree.
That is it for now. This was a long post and if most of your have the attention of a gnat (like me) you probably aren't even reading anymore. So I should say something ridiculous right now like...UNICORNS POOP SPRINKLES!!!!
Love and Frosting,
Cup-e-Cake Gang

DeleteHey:
ReplyDeleteWonderful tips! Will these work in fondant instead of gumpaste?
Yeps. It should.
DeleteThese are so gorgeous, and I love the easy to follow directions you were kind enough to show, I wish I knew how to print it to try some. I agree, love the elephant the most, but they are all so adorable. The information about Unicorns Poop Sprinkles is very helpful, I won't worry if they do it on my carpet in future.
ReplyDeleteI will try to make a printable version for you. thanks for the comments!!
DeleteMarion - you can highlight all of the pictures on the blog page and right click and select "copy". Then open a word document and paste the whole thing in there. Everything shows up. When you copy - don't select copy image - just select the word copy.
